The 27-year-old winger, a key figure in Atalanta’s 2024 Europa League triumph, has already agreed personal terms with Inter. He’s even rejected a contract extension from Atalanta, indicating his strong desire to switch to the San Siro. Lookman scored 15, and provided 16 assists so, his numbers highlight why Inter are pushing hard for the deal, but Atalanta remain unwilling to sell to a Serie A rival without a premium.
Inter Milan may return with an improved bid, possibly including player exchanges, to bridge the gap between their current offer and Atalanta’s asking price.
Atalanta CEO Cautious Amid Negotiations
CEO Luca Percassi is said to be taking a patient approach, aware of Lookman's growing value and wary of strengthening a domestic competitor without maximum return.
Despite Inter’s persistent advances, Atalanta remain unmoved in their €50 million stance. Whether Inter raise their offer or turn to Nkunku could define the coming days in this intriguing transfer battle.
Inter Eye Chelsea’s Nkunku as Alternative
As per Matteo Moretto, Chelsea midfielder Christopher Nkunku is one of the top alternatives should Inter fail to land Lookman. The Frenchman made 27 Premier League appearances last season, scoring 3 goals and adding 2 assists.
🚨 Inter’s alternative to Lookman if they do not get him between tomorrow and Saturday morning will be Nkunku. There would be an issue with his high salary, though. (@MatteMoretto on @FabrizioRomano’s Italian YouTube channel) pic.twitter.com/GL2AYBHVHL
