In the past few days, England U17 midfielder Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli has signed a scholarship at Chelsea. Despite receiving interest from abroad, Mahdi will continue his journey in London.

In the period of scholarship decisions, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich all expressed their interest towards the Chelsea talent. French clubs also put forward interest. The 16 year old midfielder has now chosen Cobham as his desired destination. Mahdi has represented Chelsea at U18 level and England at U16 and U17. Scored his first U18 goal for Chelsea in a 2-2 draw with West Ham. Mahdi is Chelsea's record holder for the youngest goal scorer in the UEFA Youth League scoring in a 6-3 win against Ajax U19s. Mahdi has trained with Chelsea's first team in the past.

First Team Training Opportunity:

This week, before the signing of the scholarship, Mahdi was seen at Cobham in first team training. Later confirmed by Nizaar Kinsella, who said that Landon Emenalo, Ryan Kavuma-McQueen, Calvin Diakite, Reggie Walsh and Reggie Watson were all involved in the training.
Pro Contract Looming?

In David Ornstein's article about Mahdi, it stated that it is 'anticipated' that Mahdi will sign a professional contract when he turns 17 in January 2027, as he has already signed his scholarship, I am a firm believer that there is a pathway ahead at Chelsea for Mahdi.
