Galatasaray are on the verge of finalizing a deal with Manchester City for versatile defender Manuel Akanji.
According to renowned Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, negotiations between the two clubs have reached an advanced stage, with a verbal offer already extended to the 30-year-old Swiss international. Galatasaray are aiming to bolster their squad ahead of the Turkish Super Lig transfer deadline on September 12, 2025.
Akanji, a key figure in Manchester City’s 2022/23 Treble-winning campaign, has been a reliable presence in Pep Guardiola’s squad since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2022. Capable of playing as a centre-back or right-back, his versatility makes him an ideal target for Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk, who is keen to strengthen the team’s defence for a competitive Champions League campaign.
Akanji was an unused substitute in City’s 4-0 Premier League win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, fuelling speculation about his future.
Financial Details
Sources suggest Manchester City are open to letting Akanji leave if their valuation, reportedly around £18 million, is met, with Galatasaray’s verbal offer of £15 million sparking further discussions.
