Leeds United finally ended their three-game run without a win or a goal, producing a 3-1 comeback victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux. The result left Wolves stuck at the bottom of the Premier League table with zero points.
Daniel Farke’s side initially fell behind when Ladislav Krejci marked his first Molineux appearance with a goal, finishing from Fer Lopez’s pass inside the box. Despite the setback, Leeds responded in style with three goals in just 15 minutes before half-time.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin Breaks His Goal Drought
Leeds’ equalizer came through Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who headed home Jayden Bogle’s cross for his first goal in Leeds colours—and his first Premier League strike since January.
The England forward quickly made another impact by winning a free-kick on the edge of the box. Midfielder Anton Stach stepped up and unleashed a stunning 30-yard effort into the top corner past Jose Sa, marking his first goal for the Whites.
Noah Okafor Completes the Comeback
Stach then turned provider, intercepting Emmanuel Agbadou’s misplaced pass to set up Noah Okafor. The Swiss forward coolly slotted into the far corner to make it 3-1, securing his first goal since joining Leeds.
With all three summer signings getting off the mark, Leeds fans had plenty to celebrate. For Calvert-Lewin in particular, the goal seemed a huge relief. After scoring, he pointed to his name on the back of his shirt, visibly fired up in front of the Wolves supporters.
Following the match, Calvert-Lewin addressed questions about Leeds’ attacking strength, saying the team had put “rumours” to bed about lacking firepower.
Lineker and Shearer Praise Calvert-Lewin
On Monday’s The Rest Is Football, pundits Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer agreed that Calvert-Lewin could be a major asset for Leeds if he stays fit.
Lineker said:
“Also, I’m pleased for Dominic Calvert-Lewin to get a goal. Hopefully, if he can stay fit, we know there is a player there.”
Shearer responded:
“That’s the big thing, staying fit with him, if they can get balls up to him and in to him, he can score goals. But it is a big if, if he can stay fit.”
