With Ben Sheaf making his move to Hollywood via Wrexham on the last day of the transfer window, the Sky Blues obviously needed a new club captain.
Yesterday that honour was given to midfielder Matt Grimes. Despite only joining Cov in January, you can see that the appointment makes sense. He is pivotal on the pitch, not only with his playmaking and ability to adapt to changes from the opposition but also in his leadership role. You can often see him directing traffic as he knits our play together.

He's also been a captain before, fulfilling that role for over five years at his previous club, Swansea City, including two seasons when they made the play-offs. Perhaps most importantly, he's obviously popular with his team mates and hugely respected for his playing abilities.
"It's an honour to be named captain of this football club," Grimes said.
"I'm looking forward to leading the team out this weekend for the first time. It's something I've done before in my past, but I feel like it feels a bit more special.
"To come into the group earlier in the year and now to be selected by the gaffer, it's truly a proud moment for me."
I always find it strangely endearing that despite the mega-bucks, hi-tec training aids and advanced (?) technology like VAR, players apparently still refer to the manager as "the gaffer", as if they were appearing in a 1970s episode of the Sweeney.
Centre Back Liam Kitching, who has been with the Sky Blues for just two years, has been named vice-captain.
