Most football fans across the world will have been stunned to see Liverpool's star-man, Mohamed Salah, blow the doors off the Reds' dressing room drama, with damning quotes about Arne Slot's treatment of him so far this season.
The Egyptian, who hasn't started any of Liverpool's last three Premier League matches and was an unused in two, clearly feels poorly treated, after signing a new two year deal at the club earlier in 2025. That contract made him the highest paid player that has ever played at Anfield.

However, the 33-year-old hasn't yet been able to reach the heights of previous seasons on Merseyside, with five goals in 19 appearances during this campaign.
Though, as Salah indicated, that isn't fully the winger's fault, with the whole of the Reds' starting 11 struggling for form, that finds them eighth in the Premier League table, and ten points of leaders Arsenal.
This outburst may have been brewing for a while in Salah's camp, as he notably replaced his profile picture on socials, in which he was wearing the gear of his long-time club, a few weeks ago.
These quotes from Liverpool's third highest goal scorer of all-time haven't come at an ideal time, with all talk about the champions now likely being about the future of the Egyptian superstar, who leaves the UK after the home match against Brighton on the 13th of December, to lead his country in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) during the weeks to follow.

Being absent from Slot's squad during AFCON, Salah's situation could become even more toxic, as the January transfer window approaches, the clash against the Seagulls could be the final time the Liverpool great steps onto the Anfield pitch, after over 400 appearances donning the Liverbird crest.
Fans will question if Salah could end up staying longer than his manager, with current proceedings between the two appearing very negative, as the 33-year-old described his feelings towards Slot as not "having any relationship" with the man who managed the side to Premier League champions only last season

The Egyptian's comments have certainly split the Liverpool fanbase, with many siding with Salah, whilst others backing the manager. Either way, Kopites' opinions have been divided.
The backers of the winger see a legend of the football club being mistreated and ignored, in a team struggling for creativity and goals, and they may have a point that the 33-year-old should arguably be starting most games, however some could say that he hasn't done enough this campaign to be automatically guaranteed the 90 minutes, though taking him out the team has also been ineffective in improving results.

Slot supporters clearly back the manager's decision to bench Salah, and may feel the Egyptian's comments are unfair and selfish, not helping the team actually improve the results on the pitch. Both points of view are valid in their own way, though which helps the side more?
Whichever way the Anfield faithful fall, it's a disastrous situation for the club to be in, with either their star-player or manager likely leaving Merseyside in the coming weeks, or maybe even both.
The footballing world will wait and watch to see what Fenway Sport Group, Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards decide to do, though one thing is for certain, Liverpool is going to be a very unstable club for the next few months.
