Leeds United’s latest signing, Noah Okafor, has spoken of his excitement and pride after completing his move to Elland Road, describing the opportunity to play in the Premier League as the fulfilment of a childhood dream.

Speaking to LUTV shortly after putting pen to paper, the Swiss international admitted the decision to join the Whites was an easy one.

Dream come true

“I think it's an amazing day, I'm really excited,” Okafor said.

“As a kid, I dreamed of playing in the Premier League. That's why for me it was quite an easy decision.

So I said, yeah, my football suits the Premier League, this is like a dream come true. I can't wait to step on the field.”

The forward, who has spent his career developing a reputation for pace, flair and goal scoring instincts, is eager to test himself in what he considers the most competitive league in world football.

“I heard that the Premier League is the best league in the world, it's so intense. I have loads of friends that played there or are playing there.

I'm really, really excited. I can't wait, like I said before. I'm also ready for this new challenge.”

Familiar faces and fresh connections

Okafor will not be starting from scratch when he joins up with the squad. He revealed he already shares bonds with several members of the Leeds dressing room, including a former teammate.

“I know Brenden Aaronson, he's a friend of mine. I used to play with him in Salzburg a couple of years ago,” Okafor explained.

“I also know Isaac Schmidt, he's from Switzerland. And Lukas Nmecha, I know a little bit. For the other guys, I'm excited to get to know them better.”

The striker also reflected on his first taste of Leeds’ passionate support, having faced the Whites in pre-season during a friendly match in Dublin.

“[In Dublin] I was like, why are there so many fans in a friendly game? And then I saw on the screen it was like 50,000. So I was like, wow.

And it was quite loud, but I heard in the stadium [Elland Road], the atmosphere should be crazy.”

With his dream move secured and the backing of the Leeds faithful awaiting him, Okafor is ready to embrace the next chapter of his career in England.
