Crystal Palace right-back Danny Imray has joined League One newcomers Blackpool on a season-long loan deal. The 21-year-old, predominantly a right-back/wing-back, departs after a productive campaign at Bromley and is set to further his development under manager Steve Bruce at Bloomfield Road.
Imray's Rise in Football
He first caught attention in non-league football, playing for Chelmsford City where he transitioned from midfield to right-back—scoring 23 goals in 11 U18 appearances—which ultimately earned him a move to Palace’s academy in February 2021. His early senior experience came during loan spells, including returns to Chelmsford and then Bromley, where he showcased his attacking instincts and energetic running.
A Standout Loan at Bromley
On loan at Bromley for the 2024–25 season, Imray featured in 39 league matches, contributing a goal and five assists. Bromley’s manager, Andy Woodman, praised his performances, saying Imray’s “explosiveness” and work rate made him “not easy to keep quiet”.

Blackpool Deal Sealed
Blackpool boss Steve Bruce welcomed Imray, seeing him as strong competition for the right-back role alongside Andy Lyons. Imray himself described the move as a “privilege,” noting he was drawn to Blackpool's ambition and Brown’s managerial leadership.
What This Move Means
- For Imray: A step up to League One offers an opportunity to adapt to a higher level of competition and sharpen his defensive and offensive contributions.
- For Blackpool: The loan adds depth and youthful energy to the squad, with Imray expected to challenge for the starting right-back spot.
- For Palace: Keeping him out on loan aligns with their development strategy, helping him grow before reassessing his Premier League potential.
