Tom Holland, the Spider-Man star and lifelong Tottenham Hotspur fan, recently shared his heartfelt reactions to the club’s Europa League victory and the subsequent managerial changes in a candid Q&A with *GQ*. Known for his passion for Spurs, Holland’s responses painted a vivid picture of his dedication to the team, even while working on a high-profile Christopher Nolan film in Los Angeles.

A Sneaky Celebration on Set
When asked how he celebrated Tottenham’s Europa League win, Holland revealed the challenges of staying updated while on a phone-free film set. “I was shooting Chris Nolan’s movie in LA. We were not allowed our phones on set, so I was not aware of the score,” he explained. Undeterred, Holland relied on sneaky crew members for updates, eagerly checking in whenever possible. “I kept going to the sneaky crew members who I knew always had their phones and kept asking them for updates,” he said. Finally, during a lunch break, he caught the last 10 minutes of the match in his trailer. The victory fueled his energy, leading to a standout performance in a scene that afternoon. “My celebration was coming back to set full of energy and doing a really fantastic scene. So that was really fun,” he added.

Bittersweet Farewell to Ange Postecoglou
However, the joy of the Europa League triumph was tempered by the news of manager Ange Postecoglou’s departure and the appointment of Frank as his replacement. Holland’s response was bittersweet, reflecting his admiration for Postecoglou. “I’m sad to see him go. I really liked him and admired him as a manager,” he said. Acknowledging the challenges of a turbulent season marked by injuries, Holland praised Postecoglou’s achievement of delivering a trophy in his second season, as promised. “To win a trophy in his second season as he said he would, in Europe nonetheless, is a huge achievement,” Holland noted. “I just was really proud to be a Tottenham fan.”

A Tribute to Son Heung-min’s Legacy
Holland reserved special praise for Tottenham captain Son Heung-min, whose dedication to the club culminated in lifting the Europa League trophy. “I was incredibly happy for Sonny,” Holland said. “For me to see him win a trophy after years of dedication to our club… He really could have played with any club, he’s a world-class player. But he stuck with his roots and he stayed with Tottenham.” Holland emphasized Son’s loyalty and legacy, stating, “Whatever he decides to do now, I think that he can stay at the club or move to another club with a great sense of pride. He’ll always be a Tottenham legend.”

A Fan’s Pride in Spurs’ Journey
Holland’s words capture the emotional rollercoaster of being a Spurs fan during a transformative season. From the thrill of European glory to the mixed feelings surrounding managerial changes, his passion for Tottenham shines through, mirroring the devotion of fans worldwide. As the club moves forward under new leadership, Holland’s pride in Spurs’ achievements and optimism for the future remain unwavering.
