Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has heaped praise on teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold, highlighting the Liverpool-born defender’s exceptional ability. In a recent interview with DAZN, Courtois described facing Alexander-Arnold in training as a “nightmare” due to the pinpoint accuracy and quality of his deliveries, while also crediting the experience for pushing both players to improve.
Alexander-Arnold Impressing at Real Madrid
Speaking about Alexander-Arnold’s impact in recent matches, Courtois noted, “I think he could have already had a few [assists] in these four games. His pre-assist against Pachuca was also really good.”
The Belgian goalkeeper, widely regarded as one of the best in the world, went on to describe the unique challenge of facing Alexander-Arnold’s set-pieces and crosses in training. “In training, he’s horrible, his kicking is amazing. His free-kicks, his corner kicks are really on another level,” Courtois said. “I don’t think I saw some guy with his quality of kicking and crossing, so as a goalkeeper, sometimes it’s a nightmare.”

A Unique Talent Among World-Class Full-Backs
Courtois, who has faced some of the game’s top attackers and set-piece specialists throughout his career, admitted that Alexander-Arnold’s precision keeps him on his toes. “It keeps you on edge and keeps you working hard, trying to save them, to make him better and myself better,” he added.
Alexander-Arnold’s ability to deliver pinpoint crosses and dangerous set-pieces has long been a hallmark of his game, earning him a reputation as one of the premier attacking full-backs in world football. His vision and technical quality have been pivotal for both club and country, and Courtois’ comments further cement the 27-year-old’s status as a unique talent.
