Tottenham Hotspur are considering a renewed approach for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guéhi, as the highly-rated centre-back edges closer to the exit door at Selhurst Park. With Liverpool currently leading the chase, the stage is set for a potential transfer tussle.

Guehi Set to Leave Palace Amid Contract Standoff
Transfer journalist Ben Jacobs recently told talkSPORT that Guehi has no intention of signing a contract extension with Crystal Palace. This leaves the club in a precarious position—either cash in now or risk losing the England international for free at the end of his deal.
“Marc Guehi is not going to extend at Crystal Palace, that is our understanding,” Jacobs explained. “It means there’s two options. One is that he stays at Palace, gets the game time, hopefully gets into the World Cup squad and leaves on a free transfer. And from Guehi’s point of view, he is prepared to entertain that possibility.”
Palace Eager to Sell as Time Runs Out
From Crystal Palace’s standpoint, this summer represents their best and possibly only chance to generate a substantial fee for Guehi. While the club would prefer to offload him in this window, a potential January exit for a reduced fee is also being considered as a middle ground.
“Palace on the other hand want to sell him,” Jacobs noted. “This is their only opportunity to bring in big money. There could be a halfway house with a January exit of course for a fee, but Palace want to sell.”
Tottenham Still in the Mix
Tottenham remain interested in Guehi and are closely monitoring the situation. While no formal bid has been made in recent weeks, Spurs have long admired the defender and may yet challenge Liverpool if the opportunity arises.
With Thomas Frank looking to strengthen his backline for the new season, Guehi’s leadership qualities and Premier League pedigree could make him a perfect fit for the club’s ambitions.
Liverpool Remain Favourites
Despite Tottenham’s interest, Liverpool are currently seen as the favourites to land Guehi. With Arne Slot now at the helm, the Reds are looking to refresh their defensive ranks, and Guehi’s profile matches their criteria for a long-term centre-back solution.
His strong performances in the Premier League, along with his recent involvement with the England national team, have only increased his appeal among top clubs.
What’s Next for Guehi?
The coming weeks will be decisive. Crystal Palace must weigh short-term squad stability against the financial reality of losing their captain on a free transfer. Guehi, meanwhile, is reportedly calm about his future, open to staying put until the end of his contract if needed.
Whether a summer sale materialises, or if the saga drags into January, Marc Guehi is one of the most sought-after names in the current transfer market—and both Tottenham and Liverpool will be watching closely.
