“I’m thinking about all the moments, all the hard work I’ve been through,” he added. “You know, I feel so blessed and so happy to be given this opportunity.”
Williams’ inclusion in the squad wasn’t even guaranteed at the start of pre-season. “It was last minute,” he revealed. “I was kind of told I wasn’t [going] and then I was.” The whirlwind change of plans left him buzzing.
“I remember just… not really jumping around the bedroom, but I was buzzing,” he said with a laugh.
Despite the nerves and excitement, the young winger has kept his feet firmly on the ground. His focus remains on growth and learning, especially with the elite company he now trains alongside.
“I’ve been trying to train well as these guys are the best players I’ve ever trained with, know what I mean?” he said. “To be around it and be learning every single day is a real blessing and I’m just thankful for it all.”
And when the ball hit the back of the net, it was a moment he struggled to even put into words.
“To score, it’s mad. I can’t even explain how I am feeling, to be honest.”
