August, September and October have been and gone and we take a look at Arsenal's report card for the season so far. It goes without saying that this record breaking start for the Gunners hasn't gone unrewarded as Mikel Arteta's men are top of the Premier League table, into the quarter finals of the Carabao Cup and have navigated a perfect start to their Champions League campaign, winning their first four matches of the campaign to sit in 2nd place in the standings on goal difference only.

Add to that, an away win against Burnley in the first week of November in the Premier League continued their fine run and is a result that keeps Mikel Arteta's men on course to set an incredible record that has stood for 122 years at the club. All eyes therefore, will be on the Gunner's this weekend as they aim to add their names to the history books.

Club record

One only has to look at their Premier League form and their solid haul of twenty five points from ten matches played to see just how organised the Gunners are in this campaign, currently six points clear of nearest challengers Manchester City, and with a superior goal difference of +15 to City's +12, confirms that their position atop the league is fully earned.

The form team at the minute, Arsenal have set the standard by winning the last ten games in all competitions and more impressively, haven't conceded a goal in their last eight games overall. This clean sheet run equals a 123 year old record set by the Arsenal back in 1903 and the opportunity to break this record comes this weekend in their away game versus newly promoted Sunderland. On the subject of records, Max Dowman set a new Champions League record on Tuesday becoming the youngest ever player to compete in the tournament at 15 years and 309 days.

Sunderland

This weeks opponents are unbeaten at home so far this season and will pose a stern challenge to Mikel Arteta's high flying Gunner's. Manager Regis LeBris has made the stadium of light a difficult ground to visit for opposing teams and already this season has beaten West Ham, Brentford and Wolves with draws against Aston Villa and most recently Everton.

Former Arsenal regular and Swiss international Granit Xhaka, who made over 300 appearances for the London club scored his first goal since joining the 'Black Cats' in the summer to secure a point against the Toffeemen and will be one to watch as Arteta plots his way around the visit to Tyne and Wear.

In their favour, Arsenal have won five out of the previous six premier league meetings at the stadium of light and on current form are expected to continue that trend although the score line could be tight. Viktor Gyokeres once again could miss out having picked up a knock in last week's 2-0 win against Burnley. Saturday's kick off at the stadium of light is at 5.30pm and a team high on confidence led by Bukayo Saka will be up for the challenge.
