FC Barcelona have completed the signing of highly-rated Swedish winger Roony Bardghji from Danish side FC Copenhagen. The 19-year-old joins on a four-year deal. Bardghji’s contract with Copenhagen was due to expire in December, but the clubs have agreed a deal which sees the winger join Barcelona immediately. Roony has already joined the first team with medical checks on Sunday and is expected to join the pre-season tour in Japan.

Bardghji's comeback from ACL setback

Bardghji missed most of the 2024/25 season in the Danish Superliga run-in after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in May 2024. Before the setback, he was regarded as one of the brightest young attacking talents in Europe. Bardghji registered 10 goals in 36 appearances during that season and featured 84 times for Copenhagen's first team, scoring 15 goals.

Sweden Youth International Adds Depth to Right Wing

Bardghi, who has represented the Sweden Under-21 team nine times, is an explosive and technically gifted player. Bardghji is known for his one-on-one skills, his ability to dribble past opponents, and his effectiveness in front of goal. His arrival provides crucial cover and competition for poster boy Lamine Yamal, who turned 18 on 13 July. Yamal was heavily relied upon throughout last season, playing over 50 games in Barca's domestic double triumph.

With Hansi Flick's system expected to demand high intensity from the wide players, Bardghji is seen as an ideal rotational option, especially on the right flank where Yamal has been operating regularly.

Barcelona looks to reinforce the Left Wing

While the right side looks promising, Barcelona are actively working to strengthen their left wing after missing out on Nico Williams. Manchester United's Marcus Rashford has emerged as the primary target. The club's board sees Rashford's pace, physicality, and goal-scoring potential as ideal for balance in attack. Rashford, who is not needed at United, is open to lowering his wages to allow Barca to meet LaLiga's salary cap.

The new sporting project under Hansi Flick aims to blend youth with proven talent, as the Catalan giants rebuild their squad with long-term vision and short-term competitiveness in mind.
