Cristiano Ronaldo Wants to Reunite with Mason Greenwood in Saudi Arabia

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly pushing to bring former Manchester United teammate Mason Greenwood to Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia. According to Foot Mercato, Ronaldo is keen to reunite with the young forward, believing Greenwood could thrive in the Saudi Pro League and contribute significantly to Al-Nassr’s ambitions.

Greenwood and Ronaldo were teammates at Manchester United

Ronaldo’s Vision

Cristiano Ronaldo, now 40, continues to dominate headlines with his performances at Al-Nassr, where he has been a transformative figure in the Saudi Pro League since joining in January 2023. With an eye on bolstering the club’s attacking options, Ronaldo reportedly sees Greenwood as a perfect addition to the squad. The pair briefly overlapped at Manchester United, before the young Englishman’s career took a tumultuous turn when he was charged with attempted rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour. Once all charges were dropped, Greenwood joined Getafe for a season-long loan before making a permanent move to Marseille. He ended his debut season with 22 goals in 36 games among all competitions. However, after just one season in France, he is linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League.

Marseille’s Stance

Despite Ronaldo’s interest, Marseille are firmly against letting Greenwood go. Since arriving in France, Greenwood has adapted well to Ligue 1, earning praise for his performances and integration into the team. Foot Mercato reports that Greenwood is happy with life in Marseille.

Marseille’s resolve to retain Greenwood is bolstered by his contract, which runs until 2029, giving the club a strong negotiating position. The Ligue 1 side views Greenwood as a long-term investment and a player capable of leading their attack for years to come. Any move to Al-Nassr would likely require a significant transfer fee, and even then, Marseille’s sporting project and Greenwood’s contentment could prove decisive.
