Sky Sports are reporting that Paraguayan left-back Diego Leon is flying to the UK to finalise a move to Manchester United, marking another step in the club’s long-term investment in emerging talent.
Announcement Imminent
The 18-year-old, who currently plays for Paraguayan side Cerro Porteño, signed a pre-contract agreement with United back in January. Although the deal was agreed earlier in the year, Leon remained at Cerro Porteño for the second half of the 2024/25 season to continue his development and fulfil club obligations.
A formal announcement from Manchester United is expected once the final paperwork is completed, including the signing of the contract and the conclusion of the visa process. The total value of the deal could reach up to £7 million, depending on performance-related clauses and add-ons.

Leon Part of Ongoing Process
Leon, who has already been capped at youth international level, is widely regarded as one of South America’s most promising defensive prospects. His move to Old Trafford underscores United’s ongoing commitment to strengthening their youth ranks with international talent, particularly in defensive positions.
While it remains unclear whether Leon will immediately join the first team or start his journey within the club’s academy or under-21 side, his arrival adds further depth to the club’s options at left-back.
United fans will be keeping a close eye on Leon’s integration into the squad, as the club continues to build for the future with a mix of youth and experience under their evolving football project.
