Bournemouth are set to secure one of the most exciting young prospects in British football with the imminent arrival of Ben Doak from Liverpool. The 19-year-old winger has been widely tipped for a big future, and his move to the south coast represents both an opportunity for regular Premier League football and a major investment in potential by the Cherries.

Early Life and Breakthrough

Born on 11 November 2005 in Dalry, Scotland, Ben Doak began his football journey with local side Dalry Rovers before moving through Ayr United’s youth setup. His big break came at Celtic, where he made his first-team debut at just 16 years of age. Even in his brief appearances, his pace and fearlessness stood out, catching the attention of scouts across Europe.

Move to Liverpool

In March 2022, Liverpool secured Doak’s signature for a training compensation fee of around £600,000. At Anfield, he was fast-tracked into the senior setup, making his first-team debut in a Carabao Cup tie later that year. A few weeks after turning 17, he signed his first professional contract and, in December 2022, became the youngest Scottish player ever to feature in the Premier League.

Though competition for places in Liverpool’s forward line limited his opportunities, Doak impressed in training and youth competitions, with many within the club praising his direct, attacking style.

Loan at Middlesbrough

To gain experience, Doak joined Middlesbrough on loan for the 2024–25 season. Despite his campaign being cut short by a thigh injury, he made a significant impact, scoring three goals and providing seven assists in 24 appearances. His performances earned him the EFL Young Player of the Month award in November, a testament to his growing reputation.

International Recognition

Doak has represented Scotland at every youth level and made his senior debut in 2023. By the end of 2024, he had already earned six caps for the national team. His international experience at such a young age highlights his standing as one of Scotland’s brightest attacking prospects.

Bournemouth’s Move

According to reports, Bournemouth are close to finalising a £25 million deal for Doak as they look to replace Dango Ouattara, who recently left for Brentford. While some pundits argue the fee is steep, Bournemouth see the teenager as a long-term investment and a perfect fit for manager Andoni Iraola’s attacking system.

The signing of Ben Doak is a bold and ambitious move by Bournemouth. At just 19, he has already played for Celtic, Liverpool, Middlesbrough and the Scotland national team. With regular game time and the right development environment, Doak has the tools to become not only Bournemouth’s next star but also one of Scotland’s leading players for the next decade.
