Sancho, who spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Stamford Bridge, is said to be growing frustrated by delays in negotiations — with his agent Emeka Obasi flying to Turin this week in an attempt to resolve the final obstacles between United and the Italian club.
Chelsea opted not to make Sancho’s loan move permanent, instead paying a £5 million penalty fee to avoid triggering the agreed £25m option. Despite returning to form in parts of his stint with the Blues — scoring 5 goals and providing 10 assists in 42 appearances, including a goal in the UECL final — the club chose to move in a different direction.
Now, Sancho is eyeing a move to Serie A, and Juventus appear to be leading the race for his signature.
Agent Steps In to Speed Up Transfer
According to Tuttosport, Sancho's agent has flown to Turin to address a key sticking point in the negotiations. The winger is reportedly owed a £5 million severance payment by Manchester United — compensation for taking a reduced salary to facilitate the move.
United are reluctant to cover the full amount and are instead pushing Juventus to split the cost. Obasi’s trip is seen as a last-ditch effort to reach a compromise and get the deal over the line.
Manchester United are now said to be open to letting Sancho go for around ÂŁ15 million, a dramatic loss from the ÂŁ73 million they paid Borussia Dortmund in 2021.
No Return to Chelsea – or United
After his loan at Stamford Bridge ended, there were early whispers of a potential second spell — but Chelsea quickly moved on, focusing instead on younger attacking targets. Despite his flashes of quality, Sancho’s hefty wages and inconsistent form meant a long-term role under Enzo Maresca was unlikely.
And his time at Manchester United is clearly over. Now 25, Sancho has been relegated to the club’s “bomb squad,” a group of five players training separately from the first team, including Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia.
There is said to be no path back under new manager Ruben Amorim, with the winger keen to turn the page completely.
Juventus Deal Edging Closer
Juventus have long admired Sancho and were interested last summer before Chelsea swooped in with their loan offer. With Fenerbahçe also said to have made an approach, Sancho remains focused on joining the Italian giants, believing Serie A could offer him the right platform to restart his career permanently.
