Leeds United are gearing up for a fierce transfer tussle with Ligue 1 side Marseille to secure the signature of Juventus winger Timothy Weah, according to reports from French outlet L’Equipe. The 25-year-old American star has emerged as a prime target for the Whites as they prepare for their return to the Premier League in the 2025-26 season.
Competition Growing in the American
L’Equipe reports that Marseille are keen to bolster their squad with Weah, who has been valued at approximately €15 million by Juventus. However, Leeds United have entered the race, looking to capitalize on Weah’s recent decision to reject a move to Nottingham Forest. This development has opened the door for both clubs, and potentially others, to pursue the versatile attacker in the summer transfer window.

Weah, the son of Ballon d’Or winner and former Liberian president George Weah, joined Juventus from Lille in July 2023 for a fee of up to €12.4 million. Despite showing flashes of brilliance, including six goals and four assists in 43 appearances last season, Weah has struggled to secure a regular starting spot under Juventus manager Igor Tudor. His omission from Juventus’ squad for their FIFA Club World Cup match against Manchester City further fuelled speculation about his future.

For Leeds, the interest in Weah aligns with manager Daniel Farke’s ambition to strengthen the squad’s attacking options as they aim to avoid relegation in the upcoming Premier League campaign. The Whites have already been active in the transfer market, securing striker Lukas Nmecha on a free transfer from Wolfsburg, centre-back Jaka Bijol from Udinese for £15 million, and defender Sebastiaan Bornauw from Wolfsburg for £5.1 million. However, Farke is reportedly keen to add a dynamic winger like Weah to provide width and creativity.
