Here we go, soon. 🔜 pic.twitter.com/b3acezyDhm
Why are City letting him leave?
Manchester City are still dealing with a bloated squad, and it has been understood that some highly rated youngsters would need to leave on loan, both to trim the squad and to afford them the opportunity to play and develop against senior professionals. Nypan is following defenders Vitor Reis, who was loaned to Girona, and Juma Bah, who was loaned to OGC Nice, and there is also an expectation that Claudio Echeverri, who made his debut for City in last year’s FA Cup final, will follow Nypan in leaving the club temporarily.
Why Middlesbrough?
City will be happy to secure the player a move to the Championship, where he will be able to adjust to life in England. Middlesbrough will have been an attractive destination as a team with a decent chance of pushing for the Championship top 6. Nypan will be able to experience a team fighting throughout the season, without as much risk of being purely a squad player, as might have been the case with one of the top favourites. There will be a hope amongst City fans, however, that Nypan will show that he is too good for the Championship, or else a breakthrough in the first team might be further in the future than might have been hoped when he first joined.
Conclusion
It will be of much interest for City fans to follow Nypan’s development over the next year, to see if he can show enough to work his way at least into the periphery of the club's plans. For Middlesbrough, they are getting a season out of one of the most exciting youngsters in the world, from a nation in Norway experiencing a golden generation. If Nypan can show anything close to the level of his fellow Sky Blue Norwegians, Haaland and Bobb, then Boro could be in for a treat.
