Manchester United have held renewed discussions over the potential signing of Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins, according to Ben Jacobs.
United are continuing to explore attacking reinforcements this summer, with Watkins emerging as a key target.
Price Revealed
Villa currently value the England international at around £60 million, a figure that United consider too steep at this stage of negotiations. However, sources indicate that United are prepared to push forward with talks if the price comes down to a more manageable level.
Watkins, 29, enjoyed an outstanding 2024/25 campaign under Unai Emery, finishing among the Premier League's top scorers and playing a pivotal role in Villa’s Champions League campaign. His consistent form and work rate have made him an attractive option for Ruben Amorim as United look to add more firepower and experience up front.

Jackson Lined Up As Replacement
One name being explored by Villa is Nicolas Jackson. The Chelsea striker is a player admired by the Villa recruitment team, and any potential movement on that front could open the door for Watkins’ exit. Still, as of now, there is no active negotiation between Villa and Chelsea. Jackson has fallen behind Liam Delap and Joao Pedro in the pecking order.
United’s pursuit of Watkins comes as they look to sign a proven Premier League forward. While Watkins isn't considered a budget option, his profile – combining pace, movement, and experience – aligns with what United are looking for.
