Manchester United stars Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho were spotted training together on one of Carrington’s pitches last Thursday, in what has fuelled further speculation about their futures at the club.

According to reports from Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News, both players arrived after the first-team squad had already completed their scheduled sessions and departed the premises. The only other team present at the training ground at the time was United’s Under-10s.

Squad Overhaul

Both men are understood to be among a number of players considering exits from Old Trafford this summer as uncertainty continues to swirl around Manchester United’s squad overhaul under the leadership of Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Rashford, a product of United’s famed academy, has endured a turbulent period both on and off the pitch. Despite signing a new long-term contract in 2023, his future remains clouded by questions over his form, attitude, and suitability for Ruben Amorim's evolving project. Barcelona are said to be pondering a move for the England international.

Meanwhile, Garnacho, seen as one of United’s brightest young prospects, has reportedly grown frustrated with his role and may seek a fresh challenge elsewhere. Fabrizio Romano stated how Garnacho's preference is to remain in the Premier League.

The timing and nature of this joint session — away from the senior group and alongside only the club’s youngest age group — hints at a growing detachment from the first-team setup. While the session could simply reflect a desire to maintain fitness during a period of uncertainty, it also underscores the complex dynamics now at play behind the scenes at Carrington.

With the transfer window still open and United in the midst of recalibrating their squad, the futures of both Rashford and Garnacho look increasingly precarious. If either or both were to leave, it would mark a significant shift for a club trying to balance long-term youth development with the immediate demands of returning to the top of English and European football.

As it stands, Manchester United have yet to comment officially on the matter. However, Thursday’s low-key training appearance will do little to dispel the growing belief that Rashford and Garnacho’s days at Old Trafford may be numbered.
