Romero's Manchester Mishap and Another Home Performance to be Ashamed of
Hoping this is released soon...

Nothing is changing at Spurs. When will we see the back of Frank?

Spurs held a recent record to be proud of against Manchester United, but Michael Carrick's rejuvenated Red's were quick to correct their flaws from last season. A return to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium for consistent bogey team Newcastle, was another disappointment.

All talk, No fight

Tottenham captain Cristian Romero had the press on his back all week after firing disdain towards the ownership of the club, not for the first time. In response to a post, where he believed that the situation leading Spurs to only have 11 senior players available was 'unbelievable but true and disgraceful', Thomas Frank and the senior members of the club allegedly disciplined the Argentine. Pundits flocked to the the media calling his actions unacceptable and stating that no one was bigger than the club. I'm sure they were overjoyed when he lunged into Casemiro resulting in a straight red card and 4 game suspension. Of course this fits the narrative that has been spoken about for years regarding Romero. Rash and violent- not how a captain should represent himself. Even as a massive fan of Romero, I had to be critical. Speaking out against the board only goes so far, what makes you a captain is whether you can be relied upon. He didn't show that on Saturday and his sending off marked the capitulation of the rest of the team.

There was some hope with the opening 35 minutes of the game, with us having more of the ball and playing with a confidence that is only seen in the Champions League. Despite this, Mbeumo's impressive opening goal, highlighted once again how uncoordinated the squad is, as they were caught out by a clever set piece. It became a matter of damage limitation in the end, with our rare flurries up the pitch lacking any end product.

The Spurs performance was really topped off by another injury for Destiny Udogie, whose availability is so infrequent that it lessens his fantastic ability when he can play. We got to see the Brazilian full-back Souza, who accounts for half of our January window. He looked quite confident and will probably end up being a regular starter, given the crisis the squad finds themselves in. Bruno Fernandes' goal wrapped up a comfortable win for United who continue to surge up the table under the helm of former Spurs player Michael Carrick. This loss was less to blame for Frank, but his damage at Spurs was soon to be seen during our performance against Newcastle.

Time is up

Yet again, Spurs embarrassed themselves at home to an out of form Newcastle side as we edged closer to relegation. The prospect of it feels very real. It was a lifeless performance once again with the aim of kicking it long and hoping that some magic spark will appear in the final third. Frank puts no trust in our supposed world-class academy and instead opts for exhausted players out of position. I think putting Connor Gallagher in the 1o, instead of Xavi Simons, sums up everything about the way that Frank assesses this Spurs team. Our second string midfield fails to play forward, where the frustration from the fans becomes louder and louder at every backwards pass. I wish I wouldn't dwell on Ange's time at Spurs as much as I do, but he used to curse at the idea of playing backwards. Now it is the norm. Of course, we were the victims of another injury, with Wilson Odobert hobbling off in the first half. Much speculation about the impact of the retractable pitch has been heightened with most our injuries seeming to come at home.

You wouldn't be able to tell that we were the hosts. Attendance was understandably poor, with tickets around £90 in the South Stand on a wet Tuesday night. Atmosphere was seemingly non-existent as brave, travelling Geordies were the only voices to be heard. It was a performance to match the funeral-like atmosphere. Our injuries are a massive issue, no doubt about that. The issues go beyond the management, no doubt about that. But the stagnant performance and energy from the players is a result of a terrible mentality that has been installed from a negative manager, who seems much more interested in protecting his ego, rather than doing the good thing and leaving.

The goals we conceded were sloppy, both times not being quick enough to intercept a pass or react to a parried shot. Now a Newcastle side that seemingly had little hope themselves after recent form, will no doubt be rejuvenated. How desperately we could do with a bit of positivity as fans. We have been treated disgracefully this season, with performances of Sunday League quality and prices that exceed that world's best. Archie Gray got his second goal of the season from, you guessed it, a set piece to draw the game level before the game was settled in the 68th minute by Jacob Ramsey.

An out of form Ramsey celebrating in front of the away fans

Personally, the lack of motivation that I had only days ago is now turning to desperation. Teams around us are picking up points against good quality sides. We have Arsenal in less than 2 weeks. I would like to think that another embarrassing performance would warrant the sacking of a man, who seems to only be supported by the media. The support of Frank today by TNT was ridiculous, claiming the drop in form was a hangover of Ange Postecoglou's methods. Have some shame.

Despite this, Frank and the board have full confidence in each other meaning he will remain for the foreseeable. What a fall from grace it has been to see us completely lose all momentum from a historic day at the club. I would hate to be a revisionist towards Daniel Levy, but he would have sacked Frank 4 times over, 2 wins in 17 games is sackable for any team in the country. How much more obvious does a relegation threat need to become, in order for Frank to get sacked?
