Norwegian international Oscar Bobb has been speaking on starting the first three league games of the season for Manchester City.

This run is his best spell in the City side since he broke through from the academy after missing all of last season through injury.

However the winger has suggested that he doesn't feel that he is 'guaranteed anything' in terms of starts or the amount of minutes he will play under Pep Guardiola this season.

Bobb's expectations for the season

"It’s quite early. We’ve had a few injuries in my position. I wouldn’t say I’m guaranteed anything. I don’t see myself as someone who has that spot completely."

So the 22-year-old doesn't feel that the right wing spot is his for certain as players such as Savinho, Phil Foden and Rayan Cherki have all missed at least one game this season and are will be competing for that right sided position.

Bobb went on to say that getting in the team will be more on how he does once he's back from international duty rather than what happened beforehand.

"When I come back, I focus on what I’ve always done. It’s everyday life, and training to get back into the team."

It seems he is taking a very mature and humble approach to the situation as he knows that he needs to earn his place through his performances in games and in training before being considered an almost guaranteed starter like his compatriot, Erling Haaland.

Erling Haaland scored 3 goals in 3 games before he went on international duty with Bobb.

Relationship with Pep Guardiola

Oscar Bobb has also been speaking on his relationship with his club manager whilst with Norway and it seems he gets on well with his boss on a very professional level.

"It’s great. It’s always nice. Yes, good. He’s a very nice guy. We have a professional relationship. He’s nice."

Bobb's relationship with Guardiola may also suggest the level-headed response to him being asked about this season as he knows that especially under Pep you need to earn your spot by working hard on the training ground and translating that across to how you perform on a game day.

Fitness concerns ahead of the Manchester derby

This weekend Manchester City take on Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium and after the Brighton game their were some rumours about Bobb picking up an injury and needing to withdraw from the Norway squad.

"It was nothing. I felt something in my thigh, and then it turned out there was nothing."

This would have been a relief for Bobb himself who has struggled so much for fitness in the past year, but also for Guardiola who has already been without many of his attacking options so far this season.

Once the players start to arrive back in Manchester, they will face United, Napoli and Arsenal in the space of 10 days and so Pep will be hoping everyone, including Bobb, comes back fit ahead of these important games after a poor start by City's extremely high standards.
