Out on loan: A weekend recap of Chelsea's young talents
Chelsea loanee Aaron Anselmino

It was a busy week for some of Chelsea's youngsters who are trying to establish themselves abroad. There were a few stand out performers over the weekend, most noticeably Aaron Anselmino who made his Bundesliga debut for Borussia Dortmund.

Kendry Paez

The attacking midfielder featured for Strasbourg this weekend in a 3-2 loss against Monaco, coming off the bench and playing the majority of the second half. Whilst his performance on the weekend didn't stand out, the youngster is one to keep an eye on. Chelsea announced the signing of Kendry when he was only 16 in June 2023 however only joined the club on his 18th birthday before making the switch to Strasbourg. He built his reputation in South America as one of the most exciting young prospects due to his skilful dribbling, outstanding vision and his eye for goal. The youngster was also the second youngest South American ever to make his international debut behind football legend Deigo Maradona. He is definitely a player to keep an eye on this year in anticipation of his arrival to the blues after his loan spell.

Aaron Anselmino

The standout performance out of all the Chelsea youngsters out on loan this weekend was undoubtedly the young centre back Aaron Anselmino. He made the loan move to German side Borussia Dortmund this summer, making his bundesliga debut over the weekend in a 3-0 win against Union Berlin. His performance was immense with Dortmund manager saying "Aaron produced a world class performance. That is why we signed him, he is physically fit, he just needs to get into his rhythm."

The centre back registered the most tackles in the game earning himself a 7.7 match rating. Chelsea fans should be really excited to in a Chelsea shirt next year, to put in a performance like that in your first start in the Bundesliga is very impressive. Hopefully it is the beginning of a very successful season for the youngster on loan at Dortmund.

Mike Penders

The young goalkeeper was in goal for Strasbourg on the weekend alongside the previously mentioned Kendry Paez in a 3-2 loss against Monaco. Penders is another very exciting prospect coming up for Chelsea who just got called up to the Belgium national team this coming international break. He has had a very good start to the season, keeping a few clean sheets and showing what he can do. Social media has been quick to praise him and he is gaining a lot of hype with fans calling him the next Thibaut Courtois.

Whilst Chelsea fans should not get too far ahead of themselves, Pneders has had a bright start to life at Strasbourg, being rewarded with a international call up.

Round up

Whilst there were no other noticeable performances for the Chelsea youngsters out on loan this weekend, there are a few players worth a mention to keep your eye on in the coming weeks. Omari Kellyman just completed his loan move to Cardiff city and i am excited to see how he does, Leo Castledine who is currently on loan at Huddersfield Town and the young striker Deivid Washington who is lining up alongside Neymar at Santos this year. It is always exciting to watch the next batch of Chelsea youngsters coming through and i am excited to see what they can do this year out on loan.
