Crystal Palace have emerged as the latest club vying for the signature of Hull City’s talented right-back, Cody Drameh, following his standout performances during pre-season. The 23-year-old defender, who joined the Tigers on a free transfer from Leeds United last summer, has attracted significant interest from several EFL clubs, but Palace’s entry into the race marks a significant development in the transfer saga, with the Premier League side looking to bolster their defensive options ahead of the new season.
His Experience
Drameh, a product of Fulham’s academy, signed for Leeds United in 2020 but struggled to secure a regular starting spot, making just 10 senior appearances for the Whites. His career has been marked by a series of loan spells at Cardiff City, Luton Town, and Birmingham City, where he showcased his potential in the Championship. Last summer, Hull City secured his services on a three-year contract with an option for a fourth year, hoping to provide the versatile defender with a stable platform to develop. However, Drameh’s time at the MKM Stadium has been inconsistent, with only 17 league starts in the 2024/25 Championship season, often playing second fiddle to club captain Lewie Coyle at right-back.
Despite limited game time, Drameh’s versatility—he can play both right-back and left-back—and his impressive pre-season form have reignited interest in his services. According to Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, Crystal Palace have made contact with Hull City regarding a potential deal, joining a host of Championship clubs, including Blackburn Rovers, Derby County, Preston North End, and Charlton Athletic, in the chase for the former England youth international. Watford and even Ligue 1 sides Stade de Reims and Toulouse have also been linked with the London-born defender, who is eligible to represent The Gambia through his parents.
