PSV secured a third straight Eredivisie title on Sunday afternoon - without even playing.
Championship number 27 was won after a lacklustre Feyenoord drew 0-0 away in Volendam, leaving the Eindhoven club unable to be caught with five games to play.
In contrast to their dramatic title victory in 2024/25, snatching the title from Ajax on the final day, this campaign has been much more tranquil, with Peter Bosz's side taking advantage of a lack of quality among their rivals this season.
The feat also came with the record of winning the Eredivisie at the earliest date in the competition's history, beating a target set by themselves back in 1978. It was also a third title for their manager Bosz, in his third season in charge of the club.

This campaign has been among the most dominant across Europe, although a recent dip in form which delayed the title celebrations has prevented them from breaking the record points tally, which they initially looked on course to do.
The title-winning game was a 4-3 victory at home to Utrecht at the Philips Stadion on Saturday, a match in which they trailed both 2-0 and 3-2, before a 94th-minute winner sparked wild celebrations.
With 23 wins in 29 games, three of their four defeats have come within the last eight weeks. One of those at home to an impressive NEC Nijmegen, whilst also losing to Telstar and Volendam, two sides scrapping to avoid relegation. Another spark off the season was suffering Champions League group stage elimination, as well as a Semi-Final defeat in the Dutch Cup, again losing to NEC.
In-form Twente win in Amsterdam
Remember when sides feared a trip to Amsterdam to take on the country’s most successful team?
Nowadays, the scare factor is non-existent, as a confident Twente team became the third domestic side this season to leave Ajax with all three points. A 2-1 win on Saturday evening blew the race for Champions League football open, and left the home side as outsiders for a top-three finish.

Twente's rise under manager John van den Brom has been one of the stories of the season. A side that started the campaign with just one win in five, have obtained 12 wins from 24 games since van den Brom's arrival in September, losing just twice.
The latest win pushed the side from Enschede into fourth spot, subsequently dropping Ajax down into 5th, while also moving them to within three points of a Champions League spot. New Ajax manager Oscar Garcia now has four points from his opening three games in charge.
Lacklustre Feyenoord held
Robin Van Persie continues to feel the pressure, as he watched his Feyenoord team drop yet more points, this time an uninspiring 0-0 draw away to lowly Volendam.
Initially breezing along in second spot, the only team that looked even slightly capable of catching PSV, the Rotterdam side are now clinging onto second spot under pressure from in-form Twente and NEC, the latter of which they travel to next weekend.
One win in their last five has not helped to ease the discontent among the fans, the sole victory a narrow 2-1 win at home to newly promoted Excelsior. Feyenoord have also drawn away to two other relegation rivals, as well as secured a last-minute 1-1 draw at home to Ajax in last week's 'De Klassieker' derby. With six wins on the road from 14 games, the 16-time champions end the season with three away matches, meaning a spot in the top three is far from confirmed.

NEC's final push
Another potential Champions League debutant for next season could be on the horizon.
Dick Schreuder's 'rock n roll' NEC side have continued their strong season with 10 points taken from the last four games, a run that leaves them in third spot.
Although a spot in the Champions League qualifying rounds would be welcome enough, they will believe they can reach the 36-team group stage automatically, a feat that could become closer to reality should they beat Feyenoord this weekend in Nijmegen.
A 2-0 victory at Excelsior last week followed a superb 3-2 win away to champions PSV. With 71 goals scored this season, the second highest in the league, nets are guaranteed to be shaking at both ends, with Schreuder's side conceding almost the same amount as an Excelsior team who are currently in the bottom three.

They also play AZ Alkmaar next weekend in the KNVB Cup final, a competition they have never won in their history, although have finished runners-up in five times.
