Middlesbrough are on the verge of securing a major coup by signing former West Ham striker Danny Ings on a free transfer. The 32-year-old, who left the Hammers this summer after his contract expired, has held positive talks with Boro's recruitment team, with indications that a deal is close. New manager Rob Edwards sees Ings as a key addition to bolster Boro’s attack, alongside Tommy Conway, as they aim for a Championship play-off push.
Speaking exclusively with Football League World, Lee Hendrie was asked his thoughts on Middlesbrough's interest in signing Danny Ings.

Hendrie said: "Danny Ings would be a brilliant signing for Boro. I think he's limited his game-time, and he's sort of gone off the radar since he left Aston Villa. West Ham; he struggled to really maintain a place."
"I think taking that step down, I know he's got experience, but when you've got the likes of Tommy Conway that can run in-behind, that partnership could be deadly in the Championship. So if it is to happen, I think it would be a real, real good signing for Boro."
