Tottenham Hotspur's start to the 25/26 Premier League season has been pretty terrible. Despite a handful of solid performances away from home and one or two moments of individual excellence, Spurs have not started well at all. Coming off the back of a momentous European trophy win, fans had every reason to hope for greater things this season, especially with the signings of Xavi Simons and Mohammed Kudus seemingly setting the club up for a whole new era. However, things already seem to have soured under manager Thomas Frank.

Any Premier League fan could tell you that Ange Postecoglou's two-season span as Spurs boss was fairly tumultuous, and saw the team pick up some truly chaotic results - both good and bad. As well as delivering much-needed silverware, Postecoglou's style of football, inconsistent though it might have been, was hugely entertaining. The daring, attacking-minded focus was divisive, but it was certainly memorable. Since Postecoglou's sacking, Thomas Frank's pragmatic approach to the game has failed to impress, particularly in comparison to his predecessor.

Spurs Are Struggling Under Thomas Frank

From Spurs' performances so far this season, it's clear that the team is lacking something. There are only a handful of players who haven't seemed to be performing their best so far, with Brennan Johnson, Archie Gray, and Destiny Udogie all appearing to have lost some of the spark they showed under Ange. It's worth noting that all of those players have seen their place in the squad come under question since Frank's arrival, which perhaps indicates Tottenham Hotspur's troubles run deeper than the players.

Even taking the spate of high-profile injuries to key players into consideration, things aren't working at Tottenham Hotspur. There's no real identity to the team under Thomas Frank, and the lack of cohesion is becoming ever clearer with every passing week. Poor results keep coming, and even the wins are growing increasingly frustrating. Life under Thomas Frank is seeing an increasing number of Spurs fans convinced that he's a poor fit for the club, which could quickly prove fatal to his chances of staying on as manager.

How Thomas Frank Can Win Back Spurs Fans

The most obvious answer to winning Spurs fans over would be to simply win more games. However, after the issues faced already under Frank, it's likely that even that wouldn't be enough. After all, he doesn't have the presence or character of Ange Postecoglou, and he seems to lack the strength of conviction that saw the Australian ride through the rough times to deliver silverware and cement himself as a legend of the club. Even so, Frank's careful and adaptive approach isn't entirely ill-advised, and fans would likely get back on board if he made a few key tweaks.

It's no secret that Tottenham Hotspur has one of the best academies in world football, with some truly exceptional young players coming through the ranks. Youth talents like Luca Williams-Barnett, Dane Scarlett, Jamie Donley, Will Lankshear, Tyrese Hall, and Mikey Moore have already proven themselves capable. Though many of Spurs' best young talents have been loaned out for the season, recalling one or two of them to shore up the squad would be a popular move, and might earn Frank a little more grace with fans.

Of course, how that would affect Frank's standing with the Tottenham faithful would depend entirely on how many chances they're given in the first team. It has proven frustratingly rare that fans get to see Tottenham's youth talent break through, and even when they've impressed in their sporadic moments in the senior team, it hasn't led to consistent game time. Putting more faith in the team's younger players, alongside top senior figures such as Christian Romero, Mickey Van de Ven, and the injured James Maddison, would be an easy way for Frank to signal an intent to build a winning future for the club.

Unfortunately, as things stand, it seems that Thomas Frank's days as Spurs' head coach are already numbered. With the season ebbing away and the team showing no real sign of competing in any considerable manner, fans will continue to call for the manager to be sacked. With names already being floated for Frank's potential replacement, Tottenham's youth might be his best chance of remaining in North London into 2026.
