Spurs Set for Pre-Season Double Header
Tottenham manager Thomas Frank

Tottenham Hotspur have announced they will play two friendlies this Saturday, July 26, as head coach Thomas Frank looks to maximise squad fitness before the club departs for their pre-season tour of Asia next week.

Wycombe and Luton Await

Frank’s men will first face League One side Wycombe Wanderers in a behind-closed-doors match at Hotspur Way, kicking off at 11am. Just four hours later, Spurs will head to Kenilworth Road to take on more third-tier opposition, former Premier League side Luton Town.

With a bloated squad and plenty of competition for places on the plane to Asia, Saturday’s double-header offers a valuable chance for Frank to assess the depth and conditioning of the group.

Plenty Looking to Impress

Spurs' first-team squad remains well over 30 players in size, and Frank will use Saturday to cast his eye over several individuals who missed out on last weekend’s 2-0 win at Reading.

Third-choice goalkeeper Brandon Austin, centre-back Ashley Phillips, midfielder George Abbott, and winger Yang Min-hyeok were all unused substitutes in Berkshire and will be hopeful of some involvement this time around.

Some of the younger talents have already had a run-out this week — Tuesday night's U21 fixture at Leyton Orient gave Jamie Donley, Will Lankshear, Dane Scarlett and Yang 45 minutes each in a 3-1 defeat at Brisbane Road.

Senior Stars and Summer Signings Eye Return

A number of senior players who were absent at Reading could be in line to get a look-in this weekend.

James Maddison, who has been pictured in training after missing the end of last season through injury, could make his first appearance under Frank. Youngsters Archie Gray, Mathys Tel, and Wilson Odobert — all of whom featured at the U21 Euros — are also in line for pre-season minutes following their delayed returns.

New Japanese centre-back Kota Takai will hope to be involved, while it remains to be seen whether Richarlison is ready for action after missing out last Saturday.

Who’s Missing Out?

Radu Dragusin and Dejan Kulusevski are still recovering from injuries sustained last season and are not expected to feature. Winger Manor Solomon is also sidelined, and Bryan Gil looks set for the exit door — the Spanish forward hasn’t been given a squad number and is not part of the current pre-season setup.

The Final Tests Before the Tour

With high-profile clashes against Arsenal and Newcastle United on the horizon in Asia, Saturday’s double assignment offers Frank one final opportunity to assess his squad’s sharpness and shape his selection for the tour.

For fringe players, returning stars, and new signings alike, these two games represent one of the last chances to impress before Spurs shift focus to international preparations and sterner tests abroad.
