It's been 12 long days since their talismanic striker helped secure a point away at West Ham, and the Slovenian does it again to give United 1-0 away win.
Match Report
A Monday night encounter saw Carrick take his unbeaten Manchester United side to the Blue side of Liverpool and play their first game at Everton's new stadium. Under the lights, and a rather slick pitch.
Notable team news saw Martinez miss out due to yet another suspected injury, replaced in the back line by Leny Yoro, and Šeško would have to take his chance yet again from the United bench.
Straight into the action and an instant heart in mouth situation for anyone of the United persuasion as Barry charged up the pitch blocking Lammens clearance. It could have gone anywhere. Luckily for the blushes of the Belgium shot stopper it deflected away from goal. But a huge let off for the youngster.
Like the start, the game settled into a routine of high press from the home side. With United having large amount of possession, but wayward passes marred much of the first half as both sides appeared to struggle with the slick conditions.
Amad had United's first real big chance as his attempt was partly stopped by Pickford, and cleared off the line by captain Tarkowski. To huge celebrations by the England No1.

For all their possession, United were largely restricted to long range efforts, as Dalot flashed a powerfully hit half volley just wide.
Branthwaite was lucky not to see himself get carded for a blatant pull on Amad's shirt. A yellow card all day long, but the evening referee took a lenient view on the challenge to Fernandes clear dismay.
The half certainly wasn't a classic, as all of the forwards on the pitch struggled to get into the game. With both sides dangerous playmakers Dewsbury-Hall and Fernandes having to drop deep to get into the game.
Half time came, surely the second half couldn't be as uneventful. 0-0.
The attritional first half was replaced in the second by what can only be described as battle. Both sides were flying into challenges and Everton's seemingly endless corners looking more like something seen in the 6 Nations. As they surrounded Lammens at every opportunity. With every routine seeing someone thrown to the floor; or in Yoro's case flung into the net. However, Everton couldn't seem to force the ball home. With United shot stopper somehow managing to catch or palm away through the crowds in every instance.
Mbeumo flashed a half volley over and former United man Keane forced Lammens into a terrific save to tip over.
The game was calling out for a moment of quality, and as is becoming a regular occurrence. Šeško was hauled off the bench at it would be the Slovenian who would ultimately provide that moment.
Cunha seemingly just clearing his lines, but in fact upon review he was playing a delicious ball forward to Mbeumo who found himself standing up the defender. He was quickly joined by Šeško, who motored the length of the pitch. Once squared to him it was a case of could he finish?
Oh could he indeed, he composed himself and slotted home to Pickfords Left, finding the corner beautifully. As he wheeled away in celebration he let out what can only be described as a roar, or more likely a message to his manager to put him in from the start.

It was a goal of real quality from three of United's summer signings and a team goal worthy of winning any game. So it proved. Propelling United into 3rd, 3 points clear of both Chelsea and Liverpool and only 3 behind Aston Villa.

Champions League football is becoming a real possibility, which even if you had asked the most positive United fan 6 or 7 weeks ago would have been hard pushed to make a case, and although it wasn't pretty, the gritty win sees Carrick continue his unbeaten run as Manchester United caretaker manager staking more of a claim to getting the job on a more permanent basis.
