2024 UEFA Champions League finalists, Borussia Dortmund, are edging closer towards securing a permanent move for Manchester United winger, Jadon Sancho.
The 25-year-old was one of football's most promising talents when he exited the Signal Iduna Park for Old Trafford in the summer of 2021 for €85m.
Sancho's first two seasons at Manchester United were far from impressive, considering his price tag.

It was also widely reported that the Englishman was dealing with some personal issues, which led the then-United manager, Erik Ten Hag, to send the former Manchester City man for recovery in the Netherlands. Still, none of this yielded fruit as Sancho didn't improve.
In a bid to find his form, he rejoined Dortmund for a loan spell in the 2023/2024 season, and he did look like his former self with Die Schwarzgelben.
His return to Carrington saw him loaned out to Chelsea for a season, with a buy clause included in the deal. The conditions stipulated that the Blues would secure Sancho permanently for £25m if they finished above 14th on the Premier League table.

Enzo Maresca's side finished in the top five and opted against activating the clause; instead, they paid United £5m to send Sancho back to Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim has made it clear that the club are trying to find solutions for players like Garnacho, Antony, and Sancho who are no longer wanted at the club, and it appears Dortmund are set to lure one of these players away after talks with Fenerbahce and Juventus failed.

As per Patrick Berger, the 2024 UEFA Champions League finalists are looking for a winger after losing Jamie Gittens to Chelsea, and are in discussions with Manchester United over a permanent deal for Sancho in the range of €18-20m.

Should Sancho join Borussia Dortmund?
The German giants have bailed out the Watford Academy graduate twice in his career. First was from his days at the Manchester City Academy, where he wanted more first-team action but didn't get it.
Secondly, it was when things went haywire for him at Manchester United, but on both these occasions, it was clear that he would always return to a top side because of the potential he harboured.
However, should the move happen this time, it would have to be different, as he cannot always return to Dortmund for a cop-out whenever things go south.

Neither the fans nor the club would want that. So, yes, he can get his career back on track at the Westfalen Stadion, but this time, for good.
Also, the assurance of playing time he'll have in the Bundesliga will provide a clear pathway for his return to the England National Team as the 2026 FIFA World Cup beckons.
