West Ham have agreed personal terms with Kyle Walker-Peters to join on a three-year-deal following the expiration of his contract with Southampton this summer, after there relegation from the Premier League.
The 28-year-old was close to joining Turkish side Besiktas, with the defender due to complete a medical, but it was delayed following interest from The Hammers causing Besiktas to walk away from the deal.

Walker-Peters time at Southampton
Walker-Peters joined Southampton on loan from Tottenham in January 2020, before making the move permanent in the summer of that year. He went on to be a crucial player for The Saints, amassing 202 appearances and scoring 6 goals.
In the 2023/24 season, where Southampton were promoted back to the Premier League, he played all 46 league games, including 2 goals and 4 assists. Last season he appeared 33 times in the league with only 2 assists. The right-back even has two England caps to his name.
West Ham's Defensive Reinforcements
Although a positive outlook at the start of the season from supporters, The Hammers finished 14th in the Premier League, conceding 62 goals. In this window, manager Graham Potter has targeted defensive improvements and depth.
With the departure of long-time servant Aaron Cresswell, adding quality to the left-back position was needed. A few days ago, they confirmed the signing of 20-year-old Senegalese full-back El Hadji Malick Diouf from Slavia Prague for ÂŁ19 million. Diouf, a more attacking wing-back, will fit Potter's style of play and because of his age, is likely to improve a lot under his guidance.

Now with Walker-Peters close to signing, like Diouf he will also fit into Potter's wing-back system and is likely to deputise Aaron Wan-Bissaka when needed. West Ham also made the loan move of centre-back Jean-Claire Todibo into a permanent deal as they look to move up the table this season and become more defensively solid.
