In a move that has sent ripples through League One, Huddersfield Town have secured the signature of prolific striker Alfie May from Birmingham City for a reported £1.2 million. The 32-year-old forward, who has penned a three-year deal with the Terriers, becomes the club’s tenth signing of a busy summer transfer window under new manager Lee Grant. This acquisition marks a significant coup for Huddersfield, who are looking to bolster their attacking options and mount a serious promotion challenge in the 2025/26 season.
A Prolific Goalscorer
Alfie May is no stranger to finding the back of the net in League One. With an impressive tally of 82 goals over the last four seasons in the third tier, May has established himself as one of the division’s most feared strikers. His journey to Huddersfield has been a long time coming, as the Terriers narrowly missed out on signing him last summer when Birmingham City swooped in at the eleventh hour to secure his services from Charlton Athletic. May’s 16 goals and eight assists in 44 League One appearances last season helped Birmingham clinch the title with a record-breaking 111 points, but the arrival of Kyogo Furuhashi at St Andrew’s has paved the way for his move to Huddersfield.

Reflecting on his transfer, May expressed his excitement about finally joining the Terriers: “It’s no secret that this is a club that I’ve come close to joining in the past, and I’m really pleased the opportunity has come again to become a Town player. This is a huge club with massive ambition, and that’s all any player wants to feel a part of. I was in a team last season that felt similarly, so I know what’s possible when a squad clicks with a manager and there’s a positive feeling across the whole club.”
