In a recent interview with The Inside Scoop, Aston Villa midfielder Amadou Onana opened up about his experience playing alongside Marcus Rashford. Onana didn’t hold back in praising Rashford’s quality and humility.
Onana, who has quickly become a fan favorite at Villa Park, spoke with admiration about Rashford’s pedigree, recalling a defining moment from the Englishman’s past. “You know when someone touches the ball, you can tell they've been there, they've played at the highest level. If you remember the PSG [vs] United [game] back then, that Marcus Rashford,” Onana said, referencing Rashford’s iconic penalty in the 2019 Champions League comeback against Paris Saint-Germain.
Onana also commented on how players in the squad can learn from someone with Rashford's experience in the game. “And with some of the things he does, you just know, 'Yeah, you've been there. You know what you're doing and you know what you're talking about.' Really, really cool guy. Humble guy.”
For Onana, who at 24 is still carving out his own legacy, sharing the pitch with Rashford is both a privilege both on and off the pitch. “It's a pleasure to share the dressing room with people like that, you know? Cause he's a good guy, and an amazing player - and someone that I personally, in my young age, can learn a lot from,” he said.
Rashford’s experience, from his breakout days as a teenage sensation to his role as a senior figure, offers a wealth of knowledge for younger players like Onana, who is eager to absorb as much as possible while contributing to Villa’s ambitions.
