According to Chris Wheeler from the Daily Mail, Aston Villa are among a number of clubs interested in Argentinian winger Alejandro Garnacho. The 21-year-old's future was uncertain at the end of last season, following his reaction to starting on the bench for Manchester United in the Europa League final on social media. With Garnacho training away from the first-team since returning for pre-season, it's clear that Ruben Amorim no longer wants him at the club.

During the summer break, Garnacho caused controversy when he posted a picture of himself wearing Marcus Rashford's No 9 Aston Villa shirt on his Instagram. Some United supporters were outraged by the post and very open for him to leave the club.
The Deal
Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and Tottenham are also said to be monitoring his situation, with the winger said to be keen on staying in the Premier League. United want a permanent move for Garnacho, as any deal would generate pure profit under the financial rules. Villa may be happy to wait closer to the summer deadline before discussing any deal, as United will become more desperate to move him on and so may be willing to accept a lower price.
It is a position that Villa are looking to recruit for, following the loans of Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio finishing and Leon Bailey allowed to leave. With Villa having to comply with UEFA's squad cost ratio rules, where their spending on wages of both players and coaches, agent fees and transfers must be below 70% of their revenue for this season, negotiating personal terms with Garnacho may be a stumbling block as Chelsea and Tottenham may be able to offer a more lucrative salary.
A potential swap deal could become an option between Manchester United and Aston Villa, with United reportedly interested in Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez. For this to happen, Andre Onana would need to leave before any swap deal is discussed, but it has been reported that Martinez would be open to leaving Villa, so a deal that includes Martinez plus cash, with Garnacho going the other way could work out for both clubs.
Garnacho's Career
After making his debut against Chelsea in October 2022, Garnacho has made 144 appearances for United scoring 26 goals and 22 assists, yet still only 21-years-old. He has mainly played as a left winger, but can play on the right and as a No 10 which will certainly appeal to Unai Emery, and with players like Morgan Rogers who has improved and developed so much under his leadership, there is no better manager to take Garnacho's game to the next level than Emery.
Where does he fit in?
With Jacob Ramsey and Rogers both occupying the left hand side throughout different periods of last season, Garnacho can certainly offer something different. Ramsey has been linked with a move away from Villa Park, and Rogers' best position is as the No 10 just behind Ollie Watkins, this leaves Garnacho with the chance to make the left winger position his own. Should he make the move, then providing goal contributions and linking with Villa's frontline will be key in order for them to continue to push up the table and become a consistent top 4 team.
