Aston Villa have made an offer for 18-year-old Toulouse defender Jaydee Canvot, according to David Ornstein from The Athletic. Villa's initial bid has been rejected, however, talks continue between the two clubs, with a number of others said to be interested in the highly-rated youngster.

It was reported a couple of weeks ago that Villa were interested in Canvot as they believe he has great potential. They are also in the market for another right-sided centre-back to deputise Ezri Konsa, following Axel Disasi's loan spell finishing. Canvot could be that player, who Toulouse value at £20 million.
A Talented Prospect
Canvot broke into Toulouse's first team at the start of this year, becoming a regular starter. He signed his first professional contract in June last year before making his senior debut against Stade Brest in September. Last season he made a total of 18 appearances in Ligue 1, the majority on the right side of a back three, a system Villa have trialled in the first couple of games of their pre-season. He is also capable of playing as a defensive midfielder.
Canvot recently featured in the Maurice-Revello tournament for France's U-20 side which they won and according to Ornstein, a number of scouts from European sides were in attendance. Personal terms are not expected to be an issue as Canvot is keen on the move. If an agreement can be reached between Villa and Toulouse, then he would fit in with Villa's youthful recruitment strategy.
Villa have recently signed teenagers Yasin Ozcan and Zepiqueno Redmond with the view that they could either become first-team players or be sold for large profit. Modou Keba Cisse, who is 19-years-old, was announced last week as signing a pre-contract agreement from LASK. He will remain on loan at LASK for the upcoming season.
