Italian side US Cremonese are reportedly weighing up a loan move for Wolves striker Saša Kalajdžić, with the possibility of an option to buy for around £3.5 million being discussed.
Kalajdžić's injury woes have stalled Wolves career
Kalajdžić's three-year spell at Wolves has been heavily affected by knee injuries, including two ACL injuries, the first of which came 45 minutes into his debut for the club, and the second came during his sixth match on loan for Eintracht Frankfurt in 2024. This has limited Kalajdžić to just 12 appearances for Wolves. In an interview with Kicker, he said: “As things stand, I will start pre-season with the Wolves, but a loan is also an option if it suits all parties. I just want to be back on the pitch and playing.” Wolves seem open to letting him gain game time elsewhere rather than holding out for a permanent move.
Why Cremonese makes sense
For Cremonese, newly promoted to Serie A, securing a tall physical forward with European top-flight experience would be a boost. A reported £3.5 million option to buy would help Wolves get a future fee should the loan move prove successful, while giving Kalajdžić a chance to prove himself. Before his move to Wolves, Kalajdžić played 56 games for VfB Stuttgart, scoring 22 goals and assisting 12 times, showing that if he can stay fit, he will score goals.
With both the player and club seemingly aligned on the benefits, a loan move to the Serie A side looks increasingly plausible. It could provide Kalajdžić with the platform he needs, and give Cremonese a high-ceiling player with something to prove, as they look to establish themselves back in the Italian top flight.
