Sam Byram Signs New Deal with Leeds United
Sam Byram has extended his stay at Elland Road

Leeds United defender Sam Byram, who has signed a new contract with the club. The 31-year-old, a product of the Leeds academy and a lifelong fan, expressed his delight at committing his future to the Whites as they prepare for another fight to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

“I am over the moon to get this over the line and to be back in for day one of pre-season,” Byram told LUTV, radiating enthusiasm for the campaign ahead.

Byram’s journey with Leeds has been a personal one. Having come through the club’s youth ranks, he made his senior debut in 2012 and has since amassed over 150 appearances for his boyhood club. His return to Elland Road in 2023 after stints with West Ham, Norwich, and Nottingham Forest marked a homecoming, and his latest contract extension underscores his commitment to the club’s vision.

Premier League Dream

Reflecting on his aspirations, Byram spoke of the emotional weight of achieving promotion with Leeds. “I have said in the past it was a dream of mine to get promoted with Leeds and then obviously to be around for the Premier League season is sort of that one step further. It is something I am very excited about,” he said. “To reach the Premier League with your boyhood club, I think when you are younger, it probably seems out of reach. But as the years go on, it is just something that I can’t believe has happened.”

Byram, who brings a wealth of experience from both the Championship and Premier League, is well aware of the challenges that lie ahead. “Obviously, it is a huge challenge ahead, but one that I am excited for,” he noted. “I am hopeful to add my experience from the past and do whatever I can for the club to help our ambitions for this year.”

Ready For The Challenge

With Leeds boasting one of the most passionate fanbases in English football, Byram believes the club is uniquely equipped to tackle the demands of the Premier League. “When you look at a club the size of Leeds, with the fan base and the support and the stadium, I think there is no better team for the challenge,” he said. “We need to obviously not underestimate the task ahead. But we want to really fight and do our best to finish as high as we can.”

As Leeds gear up for the new season, Byram’s versatility, experience, and deep connection to the club make him a vital asset.
