The striker arrives on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea.
Guiu made 16 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions last season, scoring 6 goals for the club in the UEFA Europa Conference League, making him the competition’s top scorer. Chelsea would go on to win the Conference League Final against Real Betis.
The 19-year-old started his career at Barcelona, learning his trade at the famed La Masia academy, before moving to Chelsea last summer.
Marc Guiu joins a large but not necessarily deep strike force at Sunderland, fighting for minutes alongside last season’s starters, Eliezer Mayenda, and Wilson Isidor. Other senior strike options at the club include Ahmed Abdullahi, Luis Hemir Semedo, and Nazariy Rusyn.
