The summer transfer window of 2025 is heating up, with a host of Premier League clubs vying for the signature of Borussia Monchengladbach’s talented left-back, Lukas Ullrich.
According to an exclusive report from TBR Football, Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United are among the frontrunners to secure the 21-year-old’s services, with Crystal Palace, Everton, Brighton, and Nottingham Forest also closely monitoring the situation. Ullrich’s standout performances in the Bundesliga last season and his current involvement in the U21 European Championships with Germany have only intensified interest in the young defender.
Lukas Ullrich’s meteoric rise at Borussia Monchengladbach has been one of the standout stories of the 2024-25 Bundesliga campaign. The young left-back made 33 appearances for Die Fohlen, establishing himself as the club’s first-choice left-back ahead of fellow prospect Luca Netz. Ullrich’s performances earned him a nomination for Gladbach’s Player of the Season award, with manager Gerardo Seoane praising the 21-year-old’s development, noting, “Lukas has made some huge strides forward this season.”
Ullrich’s ability to combine defensive solidity with attacking flair has caught the eye of scouts across Europe. His standout displays for Germany at the U21 European Championships, where he has showcased his versatility and composure, have only added to his growing reputation. In a recent match against England U21, Ullrich provided an assist, created two chances, won six out of nine duels, and cleared four attacks, underlining his all-around ability.
With only two years remaining on his current contract, Borussia Monchengladbach are keen to secure Ullrich’s future. According to Bild, the club has offered the young defender a contract extension until 2029, with an option for an additional year until 2030, accompanied by a significant pay rise. This move is seen as an attempt to fend off growing interest from the Premier League and Serie A, where clubs have also taken notice of Ullrich’s performances.
