Troy Deeney has softened his stance on Daniel Farke following Leeds United’s impressive 3-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.
Leeds fans had plenty to celebrate as three recent signings—Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Anton Stach, and Noah Okafor—secured the comeback win after Wolves initially took the lead under Vitor Pereira.
The match carried extra significance, with Anton Stach ending a 22-year wait for Leeds United to see a player score against Wolves. Still, despite the result, questions linger among some supporters about whether Farke is the right manager to guide Leeds through a Premier League relegation battle.
Deeney’s Concerns
For Deeney, concerns had centred on Leeds’ style of play under Farke. While dominant in the Championship, the Whites have struggled at times to translate that control into consistent top-flight performances.
However, speaking on BBC Sport’s Team of the Week, Deeney admitted that Farke’s latest display of tactical resilience forced him to reconsider his criticism. The former Watford striker even selected Farke as his manager of the week.
“Probably the only time I’m going to give it to him.
I put him up as one of those managers that might get the sack because of the way it ended last year. I have to say I 100% got it wrong. Wonderful win against Wolves away from home after going a goal down. He’s got his Leeds side fighting and trying to stay up.”
