Wolves have secured a major signing, with the transfer of Girona’s versatile centre-back Ladislav Krejčí now sealed. The deal, valued at over €30 million (£26 million), has been confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, with Krejčí receiving authorization to travel to England for his medical.
Krejčí’s Journey to Molineux
The 26-year-old Czech international joined Girona from Sparta Prague in 2024 for €8 million. During his debut La Liga season, he made 36 appearances, scoring twice and providing one assist. His ability to play as a centre-back, defensive midfielder, or left-back offers Wolves’ manager Vitor Pereira tactical flexibility. Krejčí’s leadership, honed as Sparta Prague’s captain during back-to-back Czech titles, and his 20 caps for the Czech Republic, including starts at Euro 2024, make him a valuable addition.
Defensive Improvement
Krejčí, a left-footed centre-back, provides competition and cover for Toti Gomes. His ball-playing ability stands out, with 89.1 touches and a 90.1% pass completion rate per 90 minutes in La Liga last season. However, his defensive stats, including winning only 59% of duels, suggest room for improvement in the physical Premier League.

An Ambitious Summer
This marks Wolves’ sixth signing of the 2025 summer window. Despite losing key players like Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri, the club’s investment in Krejčí signals their ambition to strengthen for a challenging Premier League campaign.
With personal terms agreed and final details being ironed out, Krejčí is set to undergo his medical in the coming days. His versatility and goal-scoring threat—53 goals in 256 career appearances, including 24 as a centre-back—could see him make an immediate impact at Molineux. Wolves fans hope the “superb” defender, as dubbed by scout Jacek Kulig, will help shore up their backline.
